DUFF, E.G. (1905), p.59

GOWGHE (JOHN), stationer in London, is mentioned in the list in the Stationers' Company's charter of 1557 but his name is not found again. It is improbable that he was the son of the earlier John Gowghe { GOUGH, John ‹ LBT 07541 › } who died in 1543, as that John Gowghe was a clergyman, though Robert Crowley { CROWLEY, Robert rev. (1517 - 1588) ‹ LBT 07271 › }, another stationer, was in holy orders. A John Goughe, scrivener, is mentioned in 1553-5 in the accounts of the churchwardens of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

MLT Note: Duff, E.G. (1905) - listed in the Stationers' Company Charter. ---
