DUFF, E.G. (1905), p.106
MOLYAR or MYLLAR (CONRAD), printer in London, is mentioned in the Subsidy Roll of 1549 as an assistant to J. Gybkyn { GYBKYN, John ( - 1586) ‹ LBT 28268 › } in St. Faith's Parish. [R. of A., I, 159.] He was admitted a brother of the Stationers' Company some time before their incorporation and in 1556-7 was fined eighteen pence for "mysnamynge" another brother. He subscribed eight pence to the collection for Bridewell and in December, 1557, paid the Company twelve pence for the use of their hearse cloth at his wife's funeral. [Arber, I, 45, 48, 70.] In 1563-4 Nicholas Cleston { CLESTON, Nicholas ‹ LBT 07150 › } was fined for calling Conrad Myller a drunkard. An interesting memorandum addressed to the Lord Treasurer by Sir W. Cecil dated 21st April, 1564, refers to a large consignment of books about to be imported by Arnold Birckman { BIRCKMAN, Arnold ‹ LBT 28244 › } and Conrad Mollar of Cologne, merchants, from the Frankfort fair. [Arber, II, 63.] On January 27th, 1567, he was admitted a University bookseller at Oxford [Clark, I, p. 321], was licensed to sell ale in St. Mary's Parish September 16th, 1572; and was still alive in 1588.
