1832-04-17 1832-08-03 PRO - Bookbinder of Peckham, Surrey. --- Copy provided by Dorian Greenbaum - In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Astle of Peckham in the County of Surry and also of Salters Hall Court Cannon Street in the City of London, Bookbinder being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I desire that all my just debts which shall be owing at my death and all my funeral expences shall be paid as soon after my decease as possible. I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife all my household Goods furniture linen plate and china together with all the money which may at the time of my decease be employed in my business as a Bookbinder for her sole use and benefit and it is my will and desire that my said business of a bookbinder be carried on after my decease by my said dear Wife and my three Sons Joseph Thomas Astle George Astle and Charles Astle during the life of my said Wife the profits to be divided as follows my said Wife to have one half for the use of herself and towards the maintenance of my four younger Children and also to receive five per Cent per annum for all money advanced by her for carrying on the said business and the other half to be divided share and share alike between my said three Sons. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said dear Wife Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and also Guardian of my said four younger Children viz: Peral Astle Anne Astle William Astle and Rachel Astle. And I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me at any time made heretofore and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I the said Testator have to this my said last Will written upon one sheet of paper to the first page thereof set my hand and to this second page set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two - Thomas Astle - Signed and sealed published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Astle as and for the last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names Witnesses thereto - W.C.Perrin 26 George Street Blackfriar's Road - J.Warren 8 Stationers Court Ludgate Street, Proved at London 3d August 1832 before the Worshipful Jesse Addams Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Mary Astle Widow the Relict the sole Executrix to whom admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer. ---
