PRO - Book Binder of Saint Gregorys <sic>, City of London. --- Copy - mlt - to his wife, Elizabeth, half of all the equipment and stock in the shop, all the household goods, Money, Book debst or whatever not disposed of in the will - for her use during her natural life "but the money I give her to spend what she wants of it at her own discretion" - "paying my son John Bird and James Benson twenty pounds each within six months or sooner if she thinks proper after my decease" - to his son, John Bird, half of all the equipment and stock in the shop - "on Consideration that he shall carry on Trade of a Bookbinder in partnership with his Mother Elizabeth Bird and settle with and pay per one half of the profit every half year" - the other half his his "to pay him for his industry and care" - if John does not wish to do this then - the second half goes to his son-in-law James Benson on the same terms. - after the death of Elizabeth - he gives everything to "his sons John Bird and James Benson. If John dies before his mother - it all goes to James. ---

Further Notes
Re -apprentices - McKenzie lists apprentices upto 1795 under this John Bird. The will makes it quite clear that he died between 17 Oct 1769 and 10 Jan 1771 - therefore all the apprentices after that date have been moved to his son John Bird [LBT/16423]. ---
