Son of John Bowles { BOWLES, John (1701 - ) ‹ LBT 02669 › } of Cornhill. Born 1724. In partnership with his father from 1754 until about 1764. They were joint publishers of a map of Hertfordshire [Sir H. G. Fordham, Hertfordshire Maps, 1901, p. 55.].

From 1764 until his death in 1793, Carington Bowles carried on the business of Thomas Bowles { BOWLES, Thomas (1690 - 1767) ‹ LBT 02667 › } in St. Paul's Churchyard, and at the time of his father's death in 1779 he was "possessed of a plentiful fortune". He died intestate in 1793, administration of his goods, &c., being granted on July 5th to his only child Carington, and the business was continued as Bowles and Carver.
