CAUSTON (HENRY), printer in London, Finch Lane, 1764-1806. Son of Richard Causton, a printer who lived in Clerkenwell. Took up his freedom in the Company of Skinners on November 6th, 1764. Succeeded to the business of Henry Kent { KENT, Henry ( - 1771) ‹ LBT 29512 › }. Sir Joseph Causton, grandfather of the present head of the firm, was the son of Robert Causton, who is believed to have been a nephew of the above Henry Causton. There was a very clear family connexion with the Skinners' Co., various brothers and sons being members of it.

Henry Causton held the office of Master in 1798 and his son Henry was apprenticed in 1788. Henry the elder died April 20th, 1806. [Information kindly supplied by Lady Causton and the Clerk of the Skinners' Co.; Gentleman's Magazine, LXXV. 391.]
