Further Notes

Renter Wrd - of the seven men elected to the Court on 5 Mar 1688 Cockerill was the only one who had not already served or fined for the Renter Wardenship. Although there is no record of it in the Court Book he presumably agreed to fine as a condition of his election and the "Wardens Accounts --- 1663 --- 1727" notes the receipt of £24 "Of Mr.Cockeril his Renter Warden Fine" between 1 Jul and 27 Nov 1688. --- McKenzie, D.F. (1974), # could clearly not have been the apprentice of ST/2:4303, so he has been re-allocated to Thomas Cockerill [ST/2:0879] ---

MLT Note: Although Plomer is clearly aware of the two Thomas Cockerills, his dates for the first show some conflation of uncle (LBT/15017) and nephew (LBT/11970).
