Son of John Dight of Dunyate, co. Somerset. Apprentice to Henry Midleton { MIDDLETON, Henry ( - 1587) ‹ LBT 08100 › } for seven years from Christmas, 1581: admitted to the freedom of the Company on January 7th, 1588/9 [Arber, ii. 109, 703]. Admitted into the Livery June 30th, 1604 [Arber, ii. 875]. He made his first entry in the Registers July 12th, 1598, and his last on November 6th, 1615 [Arber, iii. 575]. His will was dated October 8th, 1618, and proved January 18th, 1618/9. In it he bequeathed all his "quiar bookes" to his nephew Edward Dight, and gave his two apprentices Richard { prob. SHARLAKES SHARLAKES, Richard ( - 1630) ‹ LBT 09801 › } and Lawrence { prob. DUDLEY DUDLEY, Laurence ‹ LBT 09799 › } the first refusal of his printing house, presses and other things [P.C.C., 6, Parker].
