DUFF, E.G. (1905), p.47

FOXE (JOHN), stationer in London, was an original member of the Stationers' Company having been made free in March, 1555. He is frequently entered in the Registers sometimes as taking apprentices, sometimes as paying fines for non-attendance on quarter-days. He was admitted to the Livery in 1564-65. He is last entered in August, 1570, when he took Humphrey Foxe as { FOXE, Humfrey ‹ LBT 07456 › } an apprentice. It would appear that he died at the end of the year, as there is an entry between November 13th, 1570, and January 5th, 1571, "Receyved of Mistres Foxe for the herse cloth xij d."
