GARBRAND (AMBROSE), bookseller in London, 1610-16; The Windmill in St. Paul's Churchyard. Son of Richard Garbrand of Oxford, bookseller. Apprentice to Cuthbert Burby { BURBY, Cuthbert ( - 1607) ‹ LBT 08823 › } for eight years from February 2nd, 1602/3: took up his freedom February 5th, 1609/10 [Arber, ii. 270; iii. 683]. On June 15th, J610, William Welby { WELBY, William ‹ LBT 06870 › } assigned over to him two theological books [Arher, iii. 437]. Garbrand was in partnership with Eleazar Edgar { EDGAR, Eleazer ‹ LBT 07831 › } at the above address. His last entry was on October 16th, 1616, when he assigned over one of his copyrights to Master Adams { } [Arber, iii. 596].
