Further Notes

First Court - Gosling and the seven others elected on 2 Mar would normally have attended this day to be sworn and although they are not listed with those attending this is not unusual for the meeting during which new Assistants were sworn. Moreover all eight are recorded as paying £10 on this date and were thus probably present. --- Timperley, p.666 - 1741, Jan.4. Died, Robert Gosling, bookseller, at the Middle Temple gate. On Dec 17, 1711, Bernard Lintot bought of Mr.Gosling the seventh share of Captain Cooke's Voyages, for £7.3s. Sir Francis Gosling, knt. Bookseller, banker, and alderman of London, was his son. ---
