HACKFORTH (ROBERT), (?) bookseller in London, 1565-70. Apprentice with Thomas Marshe { MARSH, Thomas ( - 1589) ‹ LBT 08053 › }, by whom he was presented on October 14th, 1556. Made free of the Company of Stationers on December 3rd, 1565 [Arber, i.41, 317]. He was dead before July 22nd, 1570, and was buried by the Company, which suggests that he was a poor man. He dealt chiefly in ballads [Arber, i. 315, 421].
