Further Notes
Obit. The Times (29 Jan 1812) - On Saturday last, at his house at Highgate, after a short illness and greatly lamented by his many friends, Mr.Isherwood, sen., of Ludgate-hill, in the 74th year of his age. --- Obit. Gents.Mag. (Feb 1712) , p.192 - Jan 25. At Highgate, in his 74th year, after a short illness, Mr.Henry Isherwood, many years at the head of the very extensive paper-hanging manufactory on Ludgate Hill, where he was nearly the oldest housekeeper in the parishes of St.Bride and St.Martin (his house and warehouses extending into both). He was universally known, and as generally respected, for his integrity, punctuality, and benevolence, and for a few harmless singularities in dress and manners. In businesshe was as punctual at St.Paul's clock; in friendship (as we can, amidst many others, textify) warm, steady, and unremitting in his exertions to assist in any difficulty. And to the distressed of every description he was a liberal but unostentationious benefactor. In such a man Sociuety has lost a link of a most valuable chain. ---
