- a native of Bedfordshire

Duff, E.G. (1905), p.81

JOY (GEORGE), reformer and author, is mentioned by Herbert [I,567] as a printer on the strength of the colophon to a book entitled A Contrarye (to a certayne manis) Consultacion which runs "Prynted at London by George Joye." Though Joy had been connected with the press at Antwerp, correcting for the press two editions of the New Testament printed by the widow of Christopher van Ruremond [both in B.M.], there is no evidence beyond the colophon mentioned above for believing that he ever practiced printing on his own account.
