LOWNES (HUMPHREY), junior, bookseller in London, 1612-28. Son of Humphrey Lownes { LOWNES, Humphrey ( - 1630) ‹ LBT 08023 › }, senior. Took up his freedom July 7th, 1612 [Arber, iii.683]. Made his first book entry September 8th, 1612 [Arber, iii. 495], and his last on January 3rd, 1624/5 [Arber, iv. 133]. Mentioned in the will of his uncle Matthew Lownes { LOWNES, Matthew ( - 1625) ‹ LBT 07992 › }, who left a bequest of ten pounds to his children. He is last heard of in 1628, when he assigned some copies to G. Cole { COLE, George ( - 1637) ‹ LBT 07169 › } and G. Latham { LATHAM, George ( - 1658) ‹ LBT 10376 › } [Arber, iv. 205].
