ROWE (JOHN), bookbinder in London, is mentioned by Foxe as having done penance in 1531 for selling New Testaments in English which he had bought from one Christopher [van Ruremond] a Dutchman. In 1541 he is mentioned in the Subsidy Rolls as a servant to Henry Harman { HARMAN, Henry ‹ LBT 30048 › }, who was factor for Arnold Birckman { BIRCKMAN, Arnold ‹ LBT 28244 › } and kept his shop in St. Paul's Churchyard. [R. of A., I, p. 67.]
