SPEED (DANIEL), bookseller in London, 1616-20; The Blazing Star, St. Paul's Churchyard. Son of John Speed, the historian. Apprentice to Matthew Law { LAW, Mathew ( - 1629) ‹ LBT 07969 › }, stationer, for nine years from June 24th, 1603, and became a freeman of the Company of Stationers on December 5th, 1614 [Arber, ii. 272; iii. 684]. Daniel Speed's first entry in the Register related to his father's book The Clowd of Witnesses, and was made on May 6th, 1616 [Arber, iii. 587], and the last entry under his name was made on November 8th, 1619 [Arber, iii. 659].
