TAVERNER (JOHN), stationer in London, is mentioned in 1521 in the accounts of Henry VIII "April. To John Taverner, stationer of London, by the serjeant of the vestry for binding, clasping and covering 41 books for the King's chapel 4£." [Letters and papers of Henry VIII, vol. iii, pt. ii, p. 1545.] His will dated November 27th, 1529, was proved on November 30th, 1531.
