26 Mar 1684 Court As Upper Warden Towse did not resign on 26 Mar 1684 with other members of the Court. He was confirmed by the New Charter. If he had indeed paid his fine for Master as permitted by the Court on 4 Sep 1687 it is not clear why he would have agreed to serve as Master in 1688. Perhaps he volunteered in what were clearly troubled times.

Further Notes

Upper Wardenship - As Upper Warden Towse did not resign on 26 Mar 1684 along with other members of the Court. He was confirmed by the New Charter. --- Mastership - The 27 Nov 1688 restoration of the Court to its 26 Mar 1684 form led to new elections in which Towse replaced Henry Hills as Master. Possilby his earlier 5gn fine for the Mastership was thought of as freeing him from only one year's service, or possibly he merely chose not to insist on his exemption in exceptional circumstances. ---
