TISDALE (JOHN), printer in London, commenced business about 1554 in partnership with J. Charlewood { CHARLEWOOD, John ( - 1593) ‹ LBT 07132 › } "In Holburne nere to the Cundite at the signe of the Sarsins head." On October 8th, 1555, he became a freeman of the Stationers' Company, and is entered in the list in their charter in 1557. In 1558 he printed Fisher's Dialogues "in Smithfield at the signe of the Mytre." From 1560 onwards till 1563 he continued to print and is frequently mentioned in the Registers as entering copies and taking apprentices. His residence and printing office were in Knight Riders Street near the Queen's Wardrobe, and he had also a shop in All Hallows Churchyard, Lombard Street, near Gracechurch. [D.N.B.]
