WALLEY (JOHN), printer in London, began business about 1546 at the Hart's Horn in Foster Lane. On the incorporation of the Stationers' Company in 1557 he appears sixteenth on the list, so must have taken up his freedom at an early date. He was Renter from 1554 to 1557 and three times Warden. He printed a large number of books up to 1585. He died in 1586 and his will was proved on April 28th. [Plomer, Wills, p. 26.] He left bequests to his wife Agnes { WALLEY, Agnes ‹ LBT 03275 › ], his son Robert { WALLEY, Robert ‹ LBT 08657 › }, also a stationer, and his grandchildren.
