WYNKYN (WILLIAM), stationer of London, was made free on the 2nd July, 1534. [Bibl. Soc. Trans., VI, 24.] It has been suggested that he was a son of Wynkyn de Worde { WORDE, Wynkyn de ( - 1534) ‹ LBT 02699 › } but this is extremely improbable. He may be the person mentioned in a Subsidy Roll of 1525 as dwelling in Tower Ward "Wyllyam Wynkyne, stranger, for hys goodes, xls. ij.s." [R. of A., I, p. 11.]
