YLLE (EDWARD), bookbinder in London, is known only from his will which was proved on April 20th, 1545. He was apparently in the employment of Lucy Reynes { REYNES, Lucy ( - 1548) ‹ LBT 05089 › }, the widow of John Reynes { REYNES, John ( - 1542) ‹ LBT 28236 › }, and several of the people mentioned in the will were or had been her assistants. Thomas Barthelet { BERTHELET, Thomas ( - 1555) ‹ LBT 06915 › } was executor and W. Bonham { BONHAM, William (1497 - 1557) ‹ LBT 06973 › } and H. Tab { TABE, Henry ( - 1549) ‹ LBT 29168 › } overseers. Bequests were left to Lucy Reynes and her former assistants R. Holder { HOLDER, Robert ‹ LBT 08322 › }, E. Sutton { SUTTON, Edward (bap. 1569 - ) ‹ LBT 08522 › } and J. Cawood { CAWOOD, John (1514 - 1572) ‹ LBT 07101 › }, to Gyles Lauret { LAURET, Giles ‹ LBT 30033 › } and Nowell [Havy] { HAVY, Nowell ‹ LBT 28416 › } bookbinders, while to John Nowseley { NOWSELEY, John ‹ LBT 30072 › } was left" my hole harnyse." [Plomer, Wills, p. 8.]

MLT Note: Ylle is listed as a member of the Stationers' Company on the grounds that his will records "Company of Stationers towards their charge xxs." --- Duff, E.G. (1905) - employed by Lucy Reynes(LBT/05089)
